Description
The kukri is a renowned Nepalese blade distinguished by its forward-curving profile, compact yet powerful build, and long-standing legacy as both a utility tool and a battlefield weapon. Traditionally carried by the Gurkhas, it excels in close-quarters use, bushcrafting, and heavy outdoor tasks due to its unique weight distribution, which provides remarkable chopping power with minimal effort. Modern iterations crafted from Damascus steel elevate its performance with superior strength, edge retention, and corrosion resistance, while also offering striking visual patterning.
Ergonomically contoured handles—often made from hardwood, horn, or micarta. ensure a secure, comfortable grip even in demanding conditions. Additional features such as a full-tang construction for enhanced durability, a well-balanced spine for precision control, and a handcrafted leather or wood sheath for safe carry further underscore the kukri’s blend of functionality, craftsmanship, and enduring cultural significance.
